At 19 weeks pregnant, you are almost to the half-way point of your pregnancy! The mixed feelings of excitement, nervousness, and anticipation probably play on your mind throughout your days, for the upcoming arrival of your little one is rapidly approaching. Planning the shower, the nursery, the labor, and (of course!) the birth of your baby can be delightfully consuming, and can also add to the exhausting toll on your pregnant mind and body. Try to focus on the positive and remain as stress-free as possible. Do your best to take things one day at a time.
At 19 weeks pregnant, your belly and body are probably obviously pregnant. With your uterus reaching just below your belly button, pre-pregnancy clothes are out, having been replaced with the welcomed wardrobe of comfortable maternity clothes. Weight gain varies among all pregnant women, but the standard recommendation for pregnancy weight gain in full-term pregnancies is between 25 and 35 pounds; your doctor or midwife will be tracking your weight gain and making sure you stay on track. Your diet and exercise plans have changed drastically from your pre-pregnancy norm, but safety during exercise and proper nutrition will ensure that you and your baby are healthy and happy! Making sure to not perform any activities that could cause you to fall and injure yourself is of the utmost importance; with your center of gravity increasingly off exercise like rollerblading is definitely off of the list of recommended activities!
Your baby is now 6” long and weighs up to 8½ oz., about the size of a large apple! It’s hard to believe that in only 21 weeks, you’ll get to meet him or her. At 19 weeks pregnant, you may be looking forward to a scheduled ultrasound that will determine your baby’s gender! As one of the most exciting parts of the pregnancy, the 20-weeks ultrasound will not only help you decide the color of the nursery and limit your name ideas, but will offer up the opportunity to actually see your little one for the very first time! With his or her body growing at an amazing rate, you’ll be able to see your baby as you envision him… fingers, toes, arms, legs, and a beautiful baby head!
At 19 weeks pregnant, everything is moving along quite nicely. Although becoming larger and more “off-balance” can throw anyone off, taking your time and making sure you aren’t endangering your body, and your baby, with any activities that could cause you to fall and injure yourself is the biggest area of concern. Your baby is growing and becoming more of what you envision, so that’s exciting! His body and brain are working overtime to make connections and form perfect features you will enjoy for the rest of your life. At 19 weeks pregnant, you’re almost ½-way through your 40 week baby making mission, and the best is yet to come!
